Inspiration Translation

I do love a good animal print shoe. I bought a pair of leopard print ballet flats back in 2006 and wore them to death.

Animal print has seen a phenomenal resurgence this season. Examples include:

Christiane calf hair ballet flats from J Crew

The Nova leopard print flat with small studs found on Shopbop were even featured in The Zoe Report on the 8th January.

So I was inspired to replace my leopard print shoes. I was very excited to find a pair of satin leopard print ballet flats marked down at the Dorothy Perkins website. I'm very excited about my new purchase and I hope to have a fun 2010 with them constantly on my feet.

Flat Shoe Styling of Week Award

I'd like to have a look back at the week that was in the world of the flat shoe, and think about the best styling.

This week's contenders are:

A. Anonymous via The Sartorialist
I love the tough look of the leather jacket and scuffed boots. A warm winter weekend look.

B. Frankie Rayder via Style.com
It seems like its a tough boot kind of week. This time its with a khaki jacket and Chanel handbag.

C. Kate Hudson via WhoWhatWear
This is a nice elegantly casual combination of grey trench with just over the knee black boots.

From My Wardrobe

The first pair of shoes I'll feature are the newest addition to my wardrobe. They're sparkly gold Midas strappy flats. I loved how the straps at the front overlap to the point where they appear to be peep toes. I got these massively marked down at the Boxing Day sales at the Bondi Junction store.

I think this is my favourite styling of thesse shoes so far.

Welcome to my quest for fabulous flat shoes

Finding fabulous flat shoes isn't as easy as first thought. There are tonnes out there, but there only seems to be a few styles, which are just produced in different colours. Well at least that's all I've noticed in the past.

I have always been a lover of the chic black ballet flat. The way Audrey Hepburn wore them was so stylish. But high heels have just always seemed much more glamorous.

But in December 2009 I was diagnosed with 2 herniated discs in my back (and I still have 2 MRIs to go to see if there is anything else). So flat shoes are now a necessity.

And isn't it always the way that you want what you can't have. So now of course all I'm seeing at the sales are intricately, beautifully designed sky high heels.

So I've decided to start a blog, documenting my quest for fabulous flat shoes.

I will be show casing fabulous flat shoes both from my wardrobe but also ones featured elsewhere on the web and magazines as well as features on styling outfits around flat shoes.

So off I go on my fabulous flat shoe quest. If anyone has some pointers or tips that might help, please email me.
